Proof of Residency
Topic: Immigrants
Documented Proof of Residency

We have a great many US Senators that are working on a bill to grant amnesty to illegal aliens and they are using a very clear-cut formula. This formula is that they intend to group all Illegal Immigrants into three groups: Illegal Immigrants that have resided in the United States for less than two years, from between two to five years, and over five years. And each of these groups will have to follow the standards set up by the US Senate whether they qualify for Citizenship or not.

This may sound good if you do not listen to what they are saying, but I have trouble trying to understand how they would get this information. These Illegal Immigrants, somewhere between the estimates of Twelve Million to as many as Thirty Million now living in this country illegally, have been hiding and using phony names, false information, and changing addresses or moving from Safe House to Safe House, so they will not be deported by The Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), and therein lies my problem.

If these Illegal Immigrants have successfully hidden their identities and location from the INS for a period of between two to five or more years by using many aliases, false information, and forged identification documents, what verifiable documents will they be able to present to the US Senate to prove their residency? And if the INS was not able to find their whereabouts in five years, how will the US Senate be able to verify their locations and status over the past five years, and the legality and authenticity of the documents furnished to them, in ten to fifteen minutes of document reading? With that many people to verify, any longer study of the documents to prove accuracy and reliability would be impossible.

This would in essence be a Mission Impossible to accurately document, unless the Senate is ready to accept these people who have been living a lie for all these years, will now tell nothing but the truth. If that works I think I will fill out my Income Tax Form with the simple statement, “Dear IRS, I didn’t make much money this year and I sent in $10,000.00 too much in taxes, so just send me back the refund of $10,000.00” What do you think my chances would be?

My point is that if I, as a Law Abiding, Tax Paying American Citizen must follow he law and have verifiable documentation of virtually everything I do, why shouldn’t these Illegal Immigrants be held to the same high standards of truth and accountability? If I had failed to file a tax form for any of the past ten years, I would be looking at some jail time, so unless these Illegal Immigrants can show a Form 1040 for every year they claim residency in this country, they should be sent to jail for Tax Evasion, and then deported as convicted felons.
