Defeat had very little to do with the war
Topic: Lieberman
This is a letter I found in the Letters to the Editor in the Manchester, CT local Paper the Journal Inquirer on Aug 25 2006, that explains the many reasons Joe Lieberman was defeated in the primary. It was written by a Connecticut voter, who like myself voted against Lieberman for all the things he did wrong, and not only just for the one reason most political pundits proclaim, "It was all about the war"
Reasons Joe Should Go
There is something eerily familiar about Sen. Joe Lieberman’s decision to ignore established procedure, call his party’s faithful jihadists and decide to stay in the race he has already lost.
Lieberman’s great friend, President Bush also ignores rules he considers inconvenient, treats allies and foes alike as if all his personal whims, and calls those who disagree with him unpatriotic. Many Democrats who voted four times for Lieberman recently, were attacked by the so called “nice guy” – simply because we judged he has lost his way, ignored his constituents’ interests, and hasn’t served as a member of the loyal opposition.
Many suggest that Lieberman’s loss was mostly about Iraq
As if $306 Billion, 22,000 American lives and limbs, and countless Iraqi civilians casualties are not reason enough, here are more reasons why Lieberman ought to retire.
*He lectured us on ethics, but drafted a bill in 2005 involving generous giveaways to pharmaceutical companies, just one month after his wife joined Hill & Knowlton, a major lobbying and PR firm in its pharmaceuticals division.
*He sided with the prescription drug industry to prevent negotiation of drug prices for seniors.
*He supported administration efforts to compromise Social Security.
*He voted to approve Alberto Gonzales, author of the torture memo, as Attorney General.
*He accuses Ned Lamont of being a millionaire, but supports mega-wealthy administration cronies who have benefited wildly from oil revenues….and personally collects huge sums from lobbyists.
*He criticized the constitutional right to dissent, suggesting we “Undermine presidential credibility at our nations peril.
*He remained silent about unlawful rendition and abuses at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo.
*He favored intervention in the Schiavo case.
*He refused to support a filibuster to keep Samuel Alito off the Supreme Court.
*He endorses the administration’s decision to squander precious dollars overseas, while failing to make Homeland Security a priority.

Warning to Politicians who do not listen
Topic: Lieberman
It should be time for all politicians. Including you Harry, to realize that Joe Lieberman is not and has not been a Democrat for a long, long time. He may try to act like a Democrat, much like the Big Bad Wolf acted like Goldilocks’ Grandma in Goldilocks, but like the Big Bad Wolf, Lieberman has Ulterior Motives. If he were to happen to get re-elected, he will continue to suck up to Georgie.
Lieberman has not listened to what his constituents were telling him, and voted the other way. Joe was not listening to the people who elected him, and now the people who elected him have voted to throw him out of office. Many other politicians should take the hint and start listening to their constituents and take heed.
Lieberman is actually a Liebermantarian, ie: someone who does not give a damn for the constituents who elected him or what their needs are, but only what will best serve the political desires of Joe Lieberman. That is the way his voting record has been for the past few years, and if he gets re-elected he can claim he does not owe the Democratic Party a thing, and will vote any which way that will serve his personal purposes best. I would not be very surprised if Georgie might have an appointment to some position waiting for Good Ole Joe.
Even though Joe is going to be on the voting machines in Connecticut as an Independent Candidate of the Connecticut for Lieberman Party, he told Wolf Blitzer earlier this week “I’m a Democrat”. Talk about speaking out of both sides of your mouth. By the way Joe’s position on the voting machines will be at the bottom of the list of all the other politicians whose names are listed there, and I think that is where he really belongs, right at the bottom of the heap.

Lieberman
Now Playing: Democrat, Independant or Liebermantarian
Topic: Lieberman
Democrat, Independent, or Liebermantarian
Joe Lieberman is trying to play the same game that was played so well by Dustin Hoffman in the 1970 movie “Little Big Man” where the Dustin Hoffman character portrayed himself to be either a White Man or an Indian depending on the situation, whichever would be safest for him to be at that particular moment. But let’s face the facts Joe, you ain’t no Dustin Hoffman!!!
Lieberman has described himself as a Democrat, an Independent, or an Independent Democrat depending on who he is talking to at that particular moment, but in actuality he is what he has been for the past five or so years, a Liebermantarian.
A Liebermantarian does not really care about the Working Mans needs or wants, but only cares what position on the pending legislation will serve Joe Lieberman best. A Liebermantarian does not care about the Senior Citizens, or what programs they need to protect their health and well being, but only what position will serve Joe Lieberman best. A Liebermantarian does not care if our ports and borders are secure, or if Illegal Immigrants are taking jobs away from honest American Citizens by taking jobs at less that a living wage, just whatever position serves Joe Lieberman best. A Liebermantarian knows full well that the invasion of Iraq was a mistake and we should not keep sending young American Military over there to be slaughtered in a part of the world that has been fighting religious wars among themselves for centuries, and in Iraq the Sunnis and Shias are doing exactly that while our troops are watching. But if a Liebermantarian says something that proves to be wrong, they are not allowed to change their mind, no matter how many innocent civilians, or young soldiers die because of their error.
By the way, in Connecticut groups of Grassroots activists are in the process of throwing Lieberman out of the Democratic Party.
These sentiments are borne out by a statement in the Web Blog Site The Daily Kos:
None of this is surprising given those of us who have seen the selfish Lieberman working for himself the last three years." (Daily Kos Website, www.dailykos.com, Accessed 8/22/06)
