Religions Killing Religions

The whole concept of establishing a Democracy in many parts of the world is absurd. In Iraq we have Sunni Muslims attacking and killing Shiite Muslims, and visa versa. In India we have Muslims killing Hindus, and in Israel we have Palestinians killing Jews, and visa versa. In the recent past even in Ireland we have Catholics and Protestants fighting to the death.

Am I missing something here? I always thought that any religious belief pertained and related to the betterment of mankind and the perpetuation of the world we live in. I always thought that any and every religious belief was to follow the teachings of the supreme being, no matter what name it is given by that particular religious sect, or whatever personage or idol we communicate through to ask for and receive our personal salvation.

But it seems to be that some of the world’s religions believe that any person or group of people that do not believe exactly as they do, and follow that same religion are not worthy of living. This idea is totally in opposition to the concept of having a religion to follow in the first place, and against the idea that the Supreme Being, and creator of life, whatever your religion chooses to call it, would be to protect all things living, no matter what their beliefs are. And to teach those that did not believe in any religion the beliefs you held, but listen to what their ideas and beliefs might happen to be, and both may learn from each other.

Can anyone imagine what would happen if, in the widely diversified cultural, ethnic, and religious makeup of The United States, if the Methodists started killing Baptists, or Lutherans or Congregationalists? Supposing the Catholics started killing the Episcopalians, and the Hindus were killing the Buddhists? What if the Amish started slaughtering the Mormons?

Why is it that in the USA, where we have the widest diversification of Ethnic Origins, and religions of any area in the world, all people can exist in the same city or even within the same block peacefully? Why is it that we can pass each other on the streets and share cordial greetings as we are going to the Church, Synagogue, Mosque or Temple of each of our perspective religions? And we have very little concern that others may have different religious belief than ours, but are willing to accept that others are different. But elsewhere in the world just two, or Heaven forbid three religions cannot exist within the same country?

Is it perhaps we in the USA treat people as other Human Beings, and as being equal regardless of our differing origins or beliefs? Is it perhaps that here in the USA we understand that different people have been taught differently from each other depending on our origins, but those teachings may be as valid to them as ours are to us? Is it because we in the USA understand that we are all members of the Human Race first, and our Ethnic Origins, heritage, ideology, customs, and religious beliefs are second in importance?

I hold that any religion that holds itself as being of greater importance than the fact that we are all members of the Human Race is not a religion at all, but is in fact a terrorist organization conceived for its own betterment, and to destroy any person or cause other than itself. I believe that many of those so-called religions are in fact fearful that if their own believers were to find how other people are living and the religious beliefs and understandings, it would lead to their downfall, so they have established closed societies that their members must live in, and are kept from knowing how the rest of the world lives.
